Wireless Not Secure Enough For Government Use

Two seperate government agencies are raising red flags on wireless security issues. The Defense Department plans to issue an acceptable use policy for military and civilian employees outlining how and when they may use wireless devices. The plan doesn't intend to eliminate wireless device use. The goal is to prevent devices to be inadvertently used to spy or track official's locations. Seperately, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) warns federal agencies about the dangers of launching 802.11b and Bluetooth wireless networks. Their report urges angencies to realize that wireless networks have unique security requirements and they need to dedicate resources to maintain and monitor network integrity. What's important to note is that neither report bans wireless data indicating that both see inherent value in wireless services for government agencies.
