Author Of Stupidity Books Caught Soliciting Girl Over The Internet

from the poetic-justice dept

Well, it's tough to argue with the topic selection on this one, but the author of both Understanding Stupidity and Story of Stupidity has been caught soliciting sex with an underage girl online. Self-fulfilling prophecy or was he just doing research for his latest book?

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

I found this reply on the book review page...

"Since Dr. Welles's arrest has for some reason become a topic of consideration in this format, let us set the record straight. He is not a villain but a victim whose arrest was due to neither stupdity [sic] nor criminal conduct on his part but MALfeasence [sic] on the part of the police. The state's case is based entirely on unsubstantiated hearsy [sic], characterized by obstuction [sic] of justice and features withholding evidence, tampering with evidence, falsifying evidence, fabricating evidence and multiple counts of perjury. The charge against Dr. Welles is to be dropped."
