From Russia With TRIZ
from the invent-different dept
dsg writes in with an article about a design methodology called TRIZ. I'm going to have to leave really detailed comments up to people who know more about this. I've never heard of TRIZ and it set off a ton of alerts on my skepticism radar. As far as I can tell from the article TRIZ is basically "if you come to a problem in your design, figure out where the problem is, and think out-of-the-box to solve it." That seems like a pretty basic ingredient in the invention process that anyone would need to go through, TRIZ or no TRIZ. However, assuming it's a serious methodology, I would imagine this article just isn't very good, and there's a lot more to what TRIZ is all about then what they tell us here. Google seems to have lots of information about TRIZ, but without knowing more, I have no idea how valid a "science" it is.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
