2003 Emerging Markets Report

from the look-what's-coming dept

With all the doom and gloom scnearios concerning the tech business, it is still nice to look at some emerging technology opportunities that seem to be coming along nicely. dsg wrote in to point out that EE Times has published their 2003 Emerging Markets Report that discusses many new technologies that have quite a lot of potential. A lot of these technologies come up here in discussion quite often, such as RFID tags and OLED displays. There's nothing really revolutionary or surprising in their picks, but it's a good read just to remind yourself that there are new things happening in the technology world.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    When will displays ever improve?

When will we not have to pay an extra $500 for every extra inch of screen space? And when will flat screen displays be less fuzzy than CRT displays, despite all the posturing that they already are? Or how about displays that won't hurt your eyes?
