Monster.com Changing Resumes To Comply With Unknown US Law

from the say-what? dept

Not quite sure what's going on here, but apparently Monster.com is telling people that they're going to delete all references to certain "sanctioned" countries from their database in order to comply with some unknown federal regulation. If you worked in Iran, Syria, Burma, or a few other countries, it may no longer show up on your Monster.com resume. The problem is that no one seems to know what regulation this is in reference to. While it is illegal to do certain types of business with many of these countries, that doesn't mean you have to deny they exist.

    Re: Sanctions Explained

It's not the sanctions that need explaining - but why that means people can't have those countries on their resumes.

    De-Resolution of Information

Cool... now all the up-standing working stiff who aren't buy throwing rocks or planning attacks will change their resume to say something like "worked for such-and-such in the Middle East for 3 years doing oil exploration, contact me for details"... oh well, data that isn't there is data that can't be mined by the CIA... and mybe that's a good thing.
