Spam Clients Outed

Many people say that it isn't the actual spammers we should be going after, but the people who buy spamming services. Most spammers aren't selling their own product, but are contracted by merchants who don't know any better or who just don't care, to hawk their merchandise. The theory goes, if those people stop buying spam services, spammers will go away. So, it shouldn't be any surprise to hear that someone has published the names, contact info, and credit card info of a number of people found to be buying spam services. The info was found on one spammers insecure server. Not surprisingly, those who were contacted by the reporter claimed that it was a mistake by "naive" employees who have been disciplined or have left the company. Sounds like a convenient story.

Seems pretty basic doesn't it? Wait, there's more!
Spam MUST have a path leading back to the client, the person who paid for the spam to happen; therwise there is no way for the spammer's client to benefit from the spam. Track that credit card payment. Ostracize the seller. Tie him up in litigation. [Insert further methods of social engineering here.]
Point is, the spammer is simply an agent. Go after the person who is paying him to behave in a sociopathic manner.
