PTT To Arrive In The UK

Fastmobile will be providing a Symbian OS-based app that will power Push-to-talk over GPRS for phones in the UK as early as October. It will be interesting to see how the system performs with respect to latency and call quality. So far, the only global provider to launch a non-iDen PTT service is Verizon Wireless over CDMA 1xRTT, and it's possible that GPRS' slower data speeds will adversely affect performance. We are keen to see how the service is priced, and then how quickly it is adopted.
