X-Prize Contestants Ready To Go

from the watch-out-above-and-below dept

It seems that at least two teams competing for the X-Prize (private groups of people trying to launch people to the edge of space, twice within a two week period) are just about ready to go. The first team is expected to launch within a few months, and the prize coordinator believes there will definitely be a winner within a year. The big question, though, is will there be any fatalities between now and when the prize is awarded?

    My money is on Rutan...

...the McCormick guy is just going to burn himself badly when he cracks a peroxide tank after crashing nose first into the ground.

I doubt he or his trained monkey will want to make a second flight within three weeks.
