Vonage Chalks Up $35 Million More
from the who-says-VCs-aren't-investing dept
More and more evidence that VCs are coming out of their slumber and investing in whatever's hot... and right now one of the areas that's quite hot is VoIP. So, it's no surprise to hear that Vonage now has an extra $35 million in the bank as they make the mad dash to become big enough that one of the Baby Bells doesn't just squash them when they get around to offering similar deals. So far, I have to admit that Vonage has done a great marketing job getting their message out there, and they have a core set of users who seem very loyal. Now they've got some more cash, some of which they plan to use to start offering service in Europe. The next few years are going to be quite interesting in the telecom space.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
