Implantable Wallet

from the not-so-fast... dept

While there's been a lot of hype lately about various attempts to add FastPass/EZPass/SpeedPass/SomethingPass RFID-style payment technology to mobile phones, now Applied Digital, makers of the controversial VeriChip are trying to go a bit further by claiming they'll let you embed such a wireless payment solution in your arm. As the article suggests, I would guess that many folks would be a bit squeamish about letting that happen. More importantly, though, it probably makes sense to hold off on believing Applied Digital's claims until they show a little more proof. This is the company, after all, that got in trouble for announcing FDA approval they didn't have and then broke the few rules the FDA did give them. It's also the company that sued their own creditors when they came looking to collect on the debt owed to them. If people really want to go so far as to implant their wallet in their arms, more power to them, but it certainly seems a bit premature at this point.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Good Category

"Bleeding Edge" is a good category for this one because my first thought on reading the article was: "what happens when a criminal decides to 'acquire' your implanted wallet?"

      Re: The end is near

See comment below - and yes, I have been put in jail three times for trying to get this information out -
2 times by New Life Church - home of the Flaming Homosexual Ted Haggard.

Which brings up another interesting point - Ted Haggard holds (held, who knows what he believes now) the eroneous doctrinal error of a pre trib rapture - a heresy started a mere 250 years ago, and not held by the Church for the bulk of her existence. The early Church fathers all wrote in terms of all Christians being persecuted and executed by the Antichrist, and a remanent escaping.

Funny thing about Ted - now that his power has been removed, and that's a good thing - because the Antichrist not only will have his name add up to 666, but he will "have no regard for the desire of women" (that it, Homosexual) .

      Let's take a look:

Reverend Ted Haggard (add it up)
      8 3 7

      = 18

      18 / 3 = 6

      ergo 6 + 6 + 6 = 18

      666

Good thing he was brought down and kicked out of power - he would be in for an eternal hot foot...

      try www.DangerousDeceptions.org for details

I was in jail 52 days tangling with one of his staff bozos - and got out just in time to find out thankfully that the chip was voted down in my state (for the moment)....

Big Brother is Inside you ...

Great ... we can implant RFID chips & GPS monitors too ... that should make it much easier for the government to track all transactions for tax purposes.

Unless its a medical device ( like a pacemaker ) WHY would anyone want to have such devices implanted inside of them ?

Is it really that difficult to pay with cash or use a debit or credit card ?

Verichip - Mark of the Beast???

    Its interesting -

There are quite a few Christian websites indicating that the Verichip / Veripay microchip implant could be the Mark of the Beast (666).

A greek rendering of the word "mark" is "stigma" meaning to stick or prick, as with a sharp object.

Since the device can be used like an RFID credit card, and since it is being promoted for positive identification for Ecommerce - wow, we might have a winner.

Now if we only had a person whose name added up to 666? Well try a google search: Prince Charles, 666, or Pope, 666, Beast, Antichrist... hmmmmmmm.

I wouldn't take one of these things if you put a gun to my head.

Speaking of heads - the Bible speaks of Christians being beheaded for refusing the "Mark" (stick or prick as with a needle)...

Don't Muslims execute some prisoners by beheading??? in the 21st Century? And they hate Christians????

Wow... ya gotta love that Bible - accurate as always...

See www.DangerousDeceptions.org for more fun facts, and the desperate need to clean up your life before it is too late...
