W3C To Ease Viewing Of Web Pages On Mobile Devices

In recognition of the growing number of web-enabled mobile devices, all of which have smallish screens, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is developing a specification that will allow web servers to recognize when a client is on a smaller device, and deliver content in a more appropriate fashion. This is definitely progress, since there is a 'chicken and egg' problem with content for mobile devices: people tend not to use phones for web pages because the pages don't render well, thus many web pages are not designed for wireless use since not many people tend to use phones for web pages. Perhaps the W3C can provide the impetus to break that cycle.
