The Ever Fragile DVD
from the can't-copy-it,-so-be-careful dept
While Jack Valenti continues to claim there's no possible reason that anyone could want to backup a DVD, since he believes they're indestructible, people are quickly discovering otherwise. Many are realizing DVDs are even more fragile than CDs. Of course, the entertainment industry prefers the idea that you need to go out and replace your DVD collection every few years anyway.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

F.R.A.G.I.L.E - It must be Italian ...
DVD's ARE more fragile than CD's ... Period.
I have a collection of movies I've babied since I bought them @ a cost of $ 250.00 and STILL, I have a small fission crack from the center of one of my favorite movies that I " may " have watched all of 5 times since I bought the collection 2 years ago.
Screw Jack ... I'm backing them up and to hell with him , the RIAA & the MIAA !
