Dutch Judge Bans The Existence Of Lindows
from the make-it-so dept
Apparently, a Dutch judge has decided that the Lindows name infringes on the Windows trademark and he wants it gone. That means, no more selling or advertising Lindows in any form. Even more to the point, the website Lindows.com is a problem - and the judge says that it must be blocked so that no one from Belgium, the Netherlands or Luxembourg can reach it. I'm really not quite sure how you enforce such a ruling.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Humm.. I am not a fan, but
But this is a little far out there. Granted it is close, but aren't we pushing it a little far now?
***What we might see next.....
"And next in the news, Teen forced to change his name, Mike Rowe (its a joke Mike, don't pay me no nevermind), because it sounded close to a major software company, and his parents being charged with copy right infringement."
