RIAA Sues Woman Who Has No Computer For Sharing Music
from the did-she-hum-too-loudly? dept
It certainly wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened, but the lawyers who are fighting the RIAA on behalf of one woman, say they've heard about another lawsuit (unfortunately, they don't provide any links to info about the lawsuit) on behalf of a woman who says she didn't even own a working computer at the time the RIAA claims she was a threat to the industry. Perhaps she was singing so loudly her neighbors could hear her.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Re: David Byrne got a RIAA notice, too
There's nothing in that article mentioning David Byrne receiving an RIAA notice.

Re: David Byrne got a RIAA notice, too
I guess from RIAA's perspective, a music luminary and a non-PC owning mom are the same class of criminal.

Sorry for not having links to the litigation documents when the post was first posted. Links to 2 court orders, and to the answer & counterclaims, motion to dismiss counterclaims, and response to motion to dismiss counterclaims, are now in place:
