USPTO Examiner Digs In Heels, Rejects 1-Click Again
from the and-again-and-again-and-again dept
theodp writes "Most corporations would be delighted to have their patent application assigned to the USPTO's Mark Fadok. After all, this is the Primary Examiner who didn't stop Amazon from patenting Blurbs or block Microsoft from patenting the Wish List. But Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' 1-Click Patent - which Fadok has been rejecting since 2002 - is another matter. Why? Just about everything about it was 'old and well known' at the time of the invention, argued Fadok in a letter sent to Amazon last week explaining why he was once again rejecting the patent claims. This latest action comes after a three-judge USPTO panel convened at 'patent reformer' Amazon's request, overruled Fadok's earlier objections to 1-Click in September."Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Nothing but a quote?
I'm certainly not complaining about Techdirt sounding off when bad policy and decisions come across the wire. In fact, it's the reason I read. But I would expect a little more of a commentary on a decision like this, or at least more than a verbatim quote from someone else masquerading as a blog post.

Eventually..
Maybe it will move on.

USPTO
A 5 year old child patented swinging on a swing left and right instead of the traditional, forward and backward. Very, very, very stupid.
I'll patent wiping your ass while sitting on the toilet... then I'll patent wiping your ass while standing up the next day.
You can probably patent pissing standing up on the right side, then left side, then in front. Then patent pissing while sitting down and turning toward the bowl as to not pee on yourself. Sitting down and peeing that would allow you to take a dump at the same time.
I could make millions.
Don't worry women. I'll patent "hovering" as to not allow you to sit down on a public toilet...

Sorry bro: those processes are in the public domain. But good luck trying.

Re: Re: USPTO
Example was given of swinging left and right. No joke there.

Since the first Patent Act was drafted in 1790. Read 35 U.S.C. sec. 102.

It is a joke until you substantiate it.

So, when someone calls you on being a predictable whiner, you respond by posting moronic insults in Russian.
