Don't Say You Weren't Warned About How Dangerous The Wii Can Be
from the domestic-tranquility dept
When the Nintendo Wii first came out, there were lots of stories talking about how it was causing users physical pain, and it was blamed for an increasing number of ER visits. Further proof that the Wii can be harmful to your health comes out of Austin, Texas, where a guy has been accused of trying to choke his girlfriend with a Wiimote strap -- after she woke him up and accused him of eating all of her Girl Scout cookies. Nintendo's already been sued once for making the Wiimote's wrist strap too weak; we won't hang around to see if another lawyer alleges they've now made it too strong.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

The biggest "pain" is shelling out $250 for this PoS.
I own this system and I'm still recouping spending over $500 on this thing, which sits and collects dust while I wait and wait for games I like to be released (if ever).
In the meantime, I'll just have to wait until after Nintendo re-releases damn near every GameCube game for the Wii because, you know, it's not like it's backward compatible or anything and idiots need a "simpler" controller to play them.
*sigh*

And second, it, uh, IS backwards compatible. Came Cube discs can be read and the old controllers plug into the top.

Er, does not seem likely
Hey Twinrova, the wii IS backward compatable with the game cube, just put the discs in and they play. You can even plug your GC controler right in to the wii. *sigh*
