News.com Interview On CwF+RtB
from the rage?-what-rage? dept
Greg Sandoval, over at News.com, ran an interview with me about both Techdirt and our CwF+RtB experiment. The only quibble is that "full of rage" bit. As most people who know me will tell you, I'm about as far from "filled with rage" as just about anyone. I'm a pretty laid back, happy, optimistic guy. Can't think of much to have rage about -- but I could see how some might misinterpret some of my writings that way. Anyway, I'm way behind on posting about some of our findings (though, the interview reveals a few), and will try to get to it very soon. There isn't much left to buy (and we're down to limited sizes on t-shirts/hoodies of what is left), but we'll try to do a refresh with some new offerings soon. In the meantime, we've started shipping stuff out, but we're still waiting on all the signed books/music to get that out, so please hold on if you haven't received yours yet...Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Re: I sensed a little rage
Really, I just think that you get sarcastic when you're arguing with bullshit. That you maintain this insightful blog suggests that you are a lot calmer than some of your readers (like me).

News.Com could learn from this.
We're the guys who have to come through with the broom, the shovel, and the plunger to un-clog the drain that has been clogged by everybody else because of what they're eating, or at least what they're feeding you.
But, does News.com want to know why Mike is famous? It's because TechDirt is the only blog on the interwebs that you can go and get yourself a straight shot and a beer. It's a straight shot of information. He just lays it on ya and there it is.
But those fools at MSNBC often go off and make crap out of anything. Kieth Olbermann and his big head disturbs me.
But you can't say Mike lied to you, because he doesn't do that. And that's why in Mike's next story, he's going to come out and tell you that he's gay. Now then...

You rage against industry types, you dismiss entire industries as outmoded, and you insult people who don't agree, sending them back to economics 101 if they have the guts to question you.
The rage is always there.

Re:
Not true. I have tremendous patience for those who disagree with me *and* who can make a logical argument. Where I lose patience is when people make illogical arguments and then keep repeating them.
You rage against industry types,
No. I don't believe I have.
you dismiss entire industries as outmoded
Not true. I may point out why certain *business models* are outmoded, but I know of no industry that is outmoded.
you insult people who don't agree,
Only if they insult me first.
sending them back to economics 101 if they have the guts to question you.
Not true at all. I only suggest they go back to econ 101 if they've displayed basic ignorance of econ 101 -- repeatedly.
