UK Sets Up A Panel To Review Libel Laws
from the about-time dept
For quite some time, we've been noting how ridiculous UK libel laws are (and, by the way, we still have not been sued by the person in the UK who insisted we had libeled her), and there have been ongoing efforts to change those laws. While it's not much, it's a start to find out that the UK government has set up a panel to review the law. Hopefully this isn't just a panel to make the issue go away. It does sound like a fairly comprehensive review, however. The panel is expected to present its findings in early to mid-March, with a plan to try to implement any recommendations relatively quickly.Filed Under: defamation, libel, libel tourism, panel, uk
