DailyDirt: No Electricity? No Problem (Sorta)...

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

So many modern conveniences require an electrical outlet or a natural gas line into your house. Sure, there are some nifty gadgets that can generate electricity when you're out camping or otherwise off the grid, but what do you do if you want some appliances at home -- and you forgot to pay your utility bills? Try out a few of these devices. After you've finished checking out those links, take a look at our Daily Deals for cool gadgets and other awesome stuff.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    The Telkes Still

The Telkes Still, developed by Mária Telkes (1900–1995), was a sort of inflatable rubber pillow, with additional internal partitions. It was compact enough to fit in a pocket, like any other rubber pillow. However, when inflated and placed in the water, it became a solar still. to extract fresh water for drinking out of salt water.

And there's no need to repair anything.)

And really, if there's no electricity, there's no problem! Real Middle Ages! Why machines, why appliances, when you can basically do without them? Then there would be no need for any repair shops, not https://plus-appliance-repair.com/, not Apple repair or anything else! Let's really get rid of electricity))
