DailyDirt: This Is Your Brain On Drugs...

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Drugs are baaad, mmkay? And it is highly recommended that you NOT take micro-doses of LSD while you're at work. So just don't do drugs. Never. (So that when you do...) And check out all the other animals in the animal kingdom that like to get high -- cuz if everyone else wanted to jump off a bridge, would you do it, too? After you've finished checking out those links, take a look at our Daily Deals for cool gadgets and other awesome stuff.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

And it is highly recommended that you NOT take micro-doses of LSD while you're at work.
But macro-doses are OK if your name is Dock Ellis. Or Francis Crick.

    archive.is links

I tried the Archive.is link (of the Scientific American article on catnip) and got a blanked-out page, though the original scientificamerican.com page shows up just fine. Looking at the page code, the Archive.is page adds an awful lot of junk code to the page, including countless HTML tags that do not exist in the original page. The archive.is copy is more than 3X the file size of the original page.

Is there a reason why archive.is adds so much extraneous crap to the original webpage?

Catnip also works more effectivly on big cats

    ...e.g. lions and tigers.

I'm pretty sure we don't yet know why.
