DailyDirt: Not The Food You're Looking For...

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Eating meat has been a part of the human diet for quite some time, and there's evidence that cooking meat allowed our ancient ancestors to spend less time chewing and more time doing other productive tasks. But now, we're eating a lot more calories and hardly chewing at all -- and soon we'll have robots doing all the hard work for us. With all our new free time, maybe we can spend it making sure we're eating the right things (without necessarily eating a trendy paleo diet). After you've finished checking out those links, take a look at our Daily Deals for cool gadgets and other awesome stuff.

I couldn't find anything mentioned at Clearlabs, so I'm gonna assume there's no problem with Popplers.

(Unintentionally made Futurama references in two Daily Dirts this week; felt compelled to make a third. The others weren't funny either.)

    sashimi vs "sushi"

"Genetic testing of sushi and other fish"

There is no fish named "sushi" - nor even a fish dish - as Japanese sushi is a rice dish that may or may not contain any fish, whether raw or cooked (and genetic testing of cooked fish is a waste of time). The raw fish concoction that is commonly but erroneously known in the West as "sushi" is actually sashimi.

The revelation that much of the meat served in Oriental restaurants is something other than what's labeled should not surprise anyone. (apologies given to Michael Ho)

Antibiotics are in and on everything. It should not be much of a surprise turning up in fast food.
