DailyDirt: New Year's Diets...

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Maybe you've noticed your favorite gym is a bit more crowded recently. There are a lot of new year's resolutions for changing unhealthy habits, and eating better should be pretty high on that list. Here are just a few interesting articles on some dietary changes. By the way, StumbleUpon can also recommend some good Techdirt articles, too.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Not All Calories Are Equal

Certainly not all sources of fat are equal. Dairy fat is less fattening than non-dairy fat, because the high calcium content inhibits your bodys ability to absorb the fat.

    Gyms are crowded?

While I agree, most people's awareness of weight related issues begin this time of year, I have not seen the swell of people at my gym.

When I talk to most people who are working out there the consensus seems to be that the economy is reducing disposable income, and that is just how people see the gym these days. It costs more to eat right and exercise properly and people just don't have it.

Lawrence's comment is also very valid. Types of fat and calories make huge difference. Look it up folks.
