Protein is protein to some folks. But not all protein comes from happy soybeans or chicken eggs. Domesticated animals are pretty tasty sources of meat, but the treatment of farmed vertebrates is distasteful to some people. Here are just a few interesting links on cooking meaty meals.

Squirrel stew is a dish cooked up by an adventurous meat eater and hunter with some gourmet culinary training. Tasty free range squirrels are available everywhere, too. [url]
Sous-vide cooking sounds like a fancy version of a product developed by Ron Popeil. Cooking meat for long periods of time at relatively low temperatures is a pretty simple recipe if you have the right equipment. [url]
A self-cloning lizard species was discovered last year -- on the menu in a restaurant in Vietnam. Natural and organic cloned meat sounds much better than the GMO kind, doesn't it? [url]

  If no one told you what kind of meat was in your soup... you might not be able to really taste that "eww" flavor.
  
  As a stew, though, maybe the squirrel chunks would be a bit visually distinctive and "eww" looking...?

    My wife fed her friend fried squirrel one time. She thought she was eating dark meat chicken pieces. After we told her what it was she didn't get mad, she said to let her know when we have squirrel again. Cooked right, you can't tell wild game from grocery store meat except wild game tends to be darker meat.

Funny people forget their roots
It was only a couple generations ago that people hunted for a lot of their food. Squirrel, rabbit, duck, geese, pheasant, quail, turkey, deer and so on. Now people look at these animals in disgust on their plate.

Myself, I have a deer and a squirrel in the freezer and had freshly killed squirrel for dinner a couple weekends ago. I have no problem going out and getting my own organic, free range protein.

Wow, squirrel stew! It sounds bizarre, but if you think about all the other animals we eat for meat, then I suppose you can understand why some people may actually eat this!

Squirrel is not something that would appeal to me at all if I knew what it was. Probably like so many meats if we didn't know what it was we would just enjoy it. Stew is a good way to be able to disguise something though.
