Live Video Chat With Rob Reid, Author Of 'Year Zero' About Aliens & Copyright
from the ask-some-questions dept
As mentioned earlier this week, at 12:30pm PT/3:30pm ET today, we're hosting a live video chat with Rob Reid, the author of Year Zero, our Techdirt Book Club book of the month for July. Rob will be joining me at our offices, and we'll be broadcasting the conversation via Google Hangouts on Air. We'll be posting the embed beneath this text, so it should stream live if you're reading this while the conversation is ongoing. If you're here afterwards, the video should be replayable below. If you have any questions that you'd like to ask Rob during this conversation, please tweet with the hashtag #yearzero. We will be monitoring that tweetstream and will try to take some questions from the audience.
Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Awesome book
Rob, thanks for a great book!
About halfway through it. It has me laughing constantly. A lot more truth in this fiction than we see coming out of the major label mouthpieces.

It's a big bummer, because I was really hoping to submit questions and take part... somehow it seems silly to post my questions on twitter and then watch the answers much later when the video is eventually working (presumably).

watched recorded video
I am going to jump into the deep end and buy the audible release. Audio works for me 'cause I am always in front of the computer.

Re:
Odd statement. It was actually quite successful. Why do you think it was a flop?

Re: Re: [AC declares book club flop]
I did not know the book existed until I watched the file copy video in this post. I took the time to look up the publisher. Based on the one audio clip the publisher made downloadable (mp3) I went to my Audible account and bought it. Got to give the publisher a thumbs up for making; hardbound , e-book & audiobook. Not commenting on the price point each has except that it is borderline too high on audio version.
So, by my measurement system the video interview is successful.
