Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Another awful vpn company...
Ibvpn offers PPTP however- which is widely known to be absolutely broken, for more then a decade. This is severely negligent. see details here:
https://cryptostorm.org/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=90
l2tp and SSTP also have severe issues. Openvpn is great, but it requires real knowledge and skill to set it up properly- the defaults (like blowfish) aren't very good... A proper setup needs to be custom compiled/configured- needless to say you wouldn't use blowfish. These guys seam downright inept.

Full breakdown. pt1
Blowfish openvpn (I'd bet it's the default 128bit- if they configured it they would have chosen AES)
Proprietary software, and connection protocols (sstp, l2tp)
Vm infrastructure.
No client egress ip pooling.
Unique individual ip's and static port forwarding severely decreases security/anonymity.
Connection Logging (and full monitoring- "necessary to enforce TOS") (Metadata counts...)
Contradictory TOS/PP/advert- nothing illegal allowed but advertise social media & reign unblock (which is clearly illegal ie: iran...etc CFAA anyone?)

Full breakdown pt2
http://www.ibvpn.com/terms-of-service/
http://www.ibvpn.com/privacy-policy/
No segregation of financial/account data from login/network/logs.
One corporation in one jurisdiction for both financial and network operations.
False claims
Stops skype mitm- (claim on website- it's impossible)
Protection from hackers (even the best vpns can only provide "some protection" from "some vectors" clientside)
No logging (even the privacy policy says they don't before admitting they do.)
