Daily Deal: Top Deals Of 2015
from the good-deals-on-cool-stuff dept
The countdowns are on and the top moments of 2015 listicles (#6 will shock you) are plentiful. We couldn't resist and have compiled a list of our own.Not surprisingly given our audience, two of our most popular deals were for VPNs. First up is the $29 TigerVPN Lite Subscription, which is compatible with most devices (sorry Windows Phone owners), and allows you to choose your preferred encryption protocol with access via one of their 15 worldwide nodes . TigerVPN responded to TorrentFreak's VPN review survey, so you can learn a bit more about their policies and practices (they have the second set of responses on that page).
Next we have the $39 subscription to proXPN VPN. You'll gain access to their global server network and can choose between PPTP and OpenVPN encryption options. It works with Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS and Android and allows you to connect up to four devices. ProXPN's privacy policy promises no logging and the lifetime subscription to the service includes all updates.
The course bundles also proved to be very popular offerings. The $49 CompTIA IT Certification Bundle includes instructions on how to install & configure hardware, how to set up network connectivity and email for Android and iOS, and how to master security, safety and environmental issues. Once you've completed the courses, you'll be ready to take the CompTIA A+ certification exam and be well on your way to becoming an IT expert.
Also popular were the Pay What You Want course bundles. The Back-End Developer Course Bundle is the top sellers and offers courses on Ruby and Python programming for beginners. If you beat the average price, you can unlock access to 6 more courses covering more advanced Ruby and Python information, Django and PHP.
Gadgets were popular on the site as well. The $50 ZeroLemon SolarJuice 20000mAh Battery is one of the most popular external battery packs we offered this year. This dual output battery features 1000+ recharge cycles over the life of the battery, a built-in LED flashlight, and a clip-on hook for easy transport. The 1.2W monocrystalline solar panel would take a while to fully charge an energy-hungry device, but it can help keep the unit topped up throughout the day (and it comes with a microUSB cable).
Another useful gadget folks bought is the $30 iHere 3.0 Tracking Device (Gen 2). iHere can be attached to your keys or slipped into a wallet to help you find them. It works with a 75 ft. range, is rechargeable, has an up to 85 dB alarm so it is easy to hear, and pairs with iOS and Android devices (though it does mention that it is optimized for iOS at this point).
Thanks for your support and have a happy and safe New Year!

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
