Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

This looks like a bit of a scam to me:

    300,000+ TV episodes (250,000 free)
    200,000+ movies (10,000 free)
    Video on demand
    Pay Per View
    Premium add-ons

    Re:

This is not a scam. From what I have read, SelectTV aggregates videos that are generally found on the web for free. So it might not scammy, but it seems like a service that most can easily live without.

    Pretty good

Can you like without this service? Easily. But having used it myself, I can safely say that I wouldn't want to. I get all of my TV online, and while browsing Netflix or Amazon is easy, tracking down a show or movie you want to watch can be a real pain. SelecTV tells me where everything is and puts all my options on one page. That's a good couple of minutes that it's saving me every day of the year. Pretty well worth the pocket change they're charging for it, in my opinion.

IT'S FLASH, OH MY GOD IT'S FLASH

I didn't get a chance to see if it was commercial free because the shit is flash and we here know that flash is shit. Latest video plugins means flash. Keep your system free of malware, because if you're foolish enough to install flash, you might as well spend your day seated on your sanitary pedalstool spinning to the oldies.

Do they even look at the crap they sell here?

    Helpful

I'm really digging this service so far. I'm a cord-cutter, so I feel like I save a lot of money over having cable. But watching TV becomes kind of a hassle when its cobbled together from 5 different TV apps. It's great that SelectTV puts it all in one place. It might not seem like much, but it makes my life a lot easier. Surely worth $20 a year!
