According to the Windscribe EULA, it also logs non-personally identifying data. The word "log" is also qualified as "permanent access logs" in their FAQ.
I'm not a fan of lifetime VPNs, because even though they are high-margin and will probably become higher margin as traffic becomes cheaper, you can't guarantee a VPN company will stay in business for the rest of your life.

It would seem that the average lifespan for small online tech companies is somewhere in the low to mid-single digits ( that's years, of course, except for the tech companies that started right before the 2000 tech bust, whose lifespans were typically measured in months). And then even if the company turns out to be long-lived, you can bet that it will at some point create a tiered membership system, assigning the "lifetime" customers to the bottom tier while giving better service to the paying customers they actually want to keep.
Like it or not, that's pretty much the standard business model no matter what a company sells, and there's no sign that will ever change. Even online services that are notorious for shady cut and run tactics always seem to find a never ending crop of gullible marks who apparently never google anything.

The logging is a problem (and I HATE that most VPNs have some version of a partial "truth", misleading "truth", or out right lie about this), but I would be most of the newest customers aren't looking to avoid the US Gov't but rather are trying to simply avoid their ISP serving them ads due to the recent destruction of internet protections in the US.
