Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

      Re:

Hi there! The color on the screen is a visual representation of the measured surface color. This is going to change slightly depending on your device display and that's okay.

What's not going to change is the digital color values displayed under the diamond on the screen (CIELAB, XYZ, CMYK, RGB, etc.). Those are exact measurements of the color and can be saved or exported for data reports. It's a valuable tool for professionals who love the science behind color and work closely with technical color data, rely on custom color libraries, and quality control protocols.

Feel free to email us at info@nixsensor.com if you have any questions!

      Re:

There are two major potential sources of error here: the camera's color balance and the screen's color balance. (also the wavelength of the illuminating light source) Hopefully Nix provides tools for calibrating all of these, including providing both software as well as pre-measured color samples in both physical and digital forms.
