    How much is Java actually used? As an average user, I think I can count on one hand the number of Java programs that I've seen. In fact, the only ones that come to mind are JDownloader and a Vectrex emulator.

    It’s been the main development language on Android for many years, so you very likely have a few Java apps in your pocket or purse. You remember why Oracle sued Google? Though I suspect that usage should now be declining, as a direct result of that lawsuit.
