Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

No mention of MacOS...stay away
I hope people are noticing that this doesn't mention Mac AT ALL.
I stopped buying stuff from TechDirt because they have a "no returns" policy and I had to use my credit card company's chargeback mechanism to get my money back on what I felt was falsely advertised merch.
Classes and books are fine. But I stay away from any merch they sell here.

On top of which, most of what they sell is more expensive for less functionality than just buying off the shelf. Not much of a deal if you pay more and get less.

What kind of special support does a mac need, and what's RJ451?
I love the RJ451 port. I've been a fan of registered jacks™ for years, starting out with the RJ-11, then upgrading to the six-pronged RJ-12, then the RJ-48X, a 66-block with an RJ-21, and finally the RJ-45. I can't wait to find out what the 451 does. (Start a fire and burn down books?)
As to this port replicator I'm not understanding the question about macs. USB port replicators have been around for a long long time. Ethernet (even RJ451!) over USB has been around for over a decade. That only leaves the question of how HDMI works...
It's nice to be offered deals. I'm not sure "no returns" is worth it, but I've not had to return anything and experienced it.
Stay healthy. Stay safe. Stay away from orange people.
Ehud
