Yahoo teams with CheckFree for Bill Pay

from the ho-hum-its-about-time dept

Yahoo has teamed with Checkfree to provide a bill payment capability. I would prefer a system that I could send my bills to like paymybills.com. It doesn't make sense to process my bills like this unless ALL of my bills are there.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    No Subject Given

check out statusfactory.com, too, which has a "lite" version of 5 bills for $3.50 a month and archives for longer AND has a rule-based payment system so that you can say: "if my phone bill is less than $75 just pay it; if it is more, don't pay it and send me a note immediately". Jim Clark is behind them.

I doubt that this new service offered by Yahoo! will be a great success. Why would consumer pay for paying their bill electronically? Bank of America already offers this option and it is free if you have a direct deposit to your account!

    CheckFree

Yes many of you are correct... however for the ordinary bill payer, this Free bill pay service is helpful by eliminating the needed stamps to mail the bill payment to many of the top companies in the nation. I pay my mortgage, phone, several credit cards, gas cards at CheckFree every month and it saves me the stamps and personal check useage. It's true it doesn't cover all the bills but, it does help with well over half of mine.
