Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: youhavedownloaded.com is a scam
I've done the same, but it has all checked out.
I've read similar feedback about the tool though, and I wonder why some people (with static IPs) are getting completely random results and others are getting accurate results.
That's my point. It's a scandal that shouldn't be a scandal. The organisation has themselves to thank for it, due to the laws (and morals) they've been lobbying for.
I'm not so sure. They depend on doing the old thing in a new way (instead of doing new things) and the old thing is getting increasingly marginalized.
Due to the limited number of apps, it feels like gatekeepers right now, but ultimately it should start feeling more like curation - like music blogs for instance.
Well, I don't want to advertise it, but what drove my decision is that when I asked these questions, they handled it properly. They actually do some logging, but at least they didn't make up fines or get rude. :)
I used to live in Turkey where the web was censored and I was seriously worried about the government knocking on my door for blogging about them in a critical way. There's a law in Turkey which outlaws "un-Turkish" behaviour or discourse.
Also, I travel a lot and use public WiFi's... I don't want to risk identity theft or people being able to get into my data.
I think it's time to define "musical artists" versus "musicians".
For instance, many creators of original music have no idea how to play an instrument other than their computers. WIth some dedication, they'll master the piano within one or two years of learning production (sometimes even faster). Same goes for the mashup artists worth listening to - I'm being blunt here, but I have a super critical ear when it comes to mashups.
Anyway, I think musical artist and musician mean more or less the same. Especially when it gets to a level to be good enough to actually pay for it.
I wasn't saying it's something new, I'm talking about the age of Justin Bieber's fans contrasted with the claim that there's a generation that doesn't believe in buying music.

Sure, we should ridicule them, but the most favourable outcome is this organisation paying more attention to the digital natives among their ranks.

If there was a universally viable business model, everyone would be an entrepreneur.
