First of all - with apple smartphone you (as a developer) are programming in object c (or some variant of it) for specific hardware. You are not sure people will ever see your app since you could be rejected at the pearly gates of iStore. And you are forced to pay 100$ per year just to develop.
So your application
- is fast,
- works almost without glitches
- it has a good chance it will never see the light of iStore.
Android smartphones support a wide range of different hardware platforms and underlying linux kernel is the MOST used OS (kernel) in the world (i.e. it supports most hardware), so it's probably pretty good/stable. Programming for android is really simple (since it's java) and starting developement process is even easier (you can actually debug your application over wifi) - downside is, well, java and lesser control of application review.
So your application
- can be fast on your hardware but could suck on a lot of other phones/tablets
- , if you're not careful with the main UI thread, can be hardcore glitchy and there's always time for some garbage collecting
- debugs easy and deploys easy
- will be available in Play Store almost certainly
Me - I make my own components in China by hand, put it together and while testing hardware configuration I am programming OS from scratch in assembler. By hand. With one hand. That has 3 fingers.

I wouldn't call Matt a developer if he's got one sucky app. :>
Painting with a populism broad brush is not going to do you any good here. You are proving our point here - by being such an asshole, you represent people we (most of the readers of techdirt) detest. If you had a digital product, I wouldn't pirate your shit - I would pirate the shit out of your competitors product to increase its popularity. And by 'I' I mean me - not Masnick, Falkvinge or Sunde.
Bullshit - it's merely difficult to make music that is mainstream but still good. There is a lot of music out there that is worth listening to - at least it is to me, that is.
But if by "worth listening to" you mean "worth by TOP charts" and money it brings in - usually such piece of garbage is unlistenable to me.
You started with "The fact is..." and ended with "...retarded he is." - try better, we got higher troll standards here.
This is kinda "But you said you weren't going to write about this! Waaaaah, waaah, you are a hypocrite! (but I kinda really want you to not write about this, so I'll continue trolling)"
First three are tangible things - I thought I'd point out the difference.
You pay for your software? So you bought your windows 7 preinstalled and you bought your office? Aaaaand then you... don't actually use anything else? Thanks to you programmers at Microsoft can eat again!
paying for music - I'll pay good money for live music (which I'm certain it's good). I won't pay for your music - first I'd listen to it. Then I'd listen to it some more. If it's good - I'd buy music from you. I can't buy music from you directly? Or Kickstarter, Indiegogo? No? Well I'm really sorry but my money is not for gatekeepers (at least not as much as 30%) - it's meant for the artist or me. If the artist is incapable of setting up shop on the internet (dauting task in 1995, I tell you) I'll get it through more convenient means - filesharing. So no - I will not pay for music - I will pay for convenience of getting it. And I am not the only one - lookup that Emily post, it got pretty famous, some Lowery guy got upset about the fact that time moves on. Damn you laws of physics!
There is no way to steal information (music, software, ebooks) - you copy it.
About ethics - ethics change with every generation - you cannot force your ethics from 1980 to a generation that never saw a cassette tape, VCR and never actually owned music in a physical form. Younger people (~20 years old) grew up with filesharing and while it's frowned upon it will be excepted - remember when we had pirate radios?
And you think old business models will be here forever? Letter carver for the printing press, buggy whip maker and recording executive met in a bar...

Yes. That is the only reason why we don't call it theft. Oh and because it isn't. But that's a minor fact...
