Though the extended working hours may be a benefit, I'd hate to be the one that had to cover their dental coverage premiums....
All kidding aside, I knew people that got hooked on that crap, that is a very bad drug and I hope that no one ever needs to deal with a friend hooked on that crap.
Re: Re: Don't pollute the history: Edison was a tweaker
In fact doing a little Google-fu, I found this...
"Since 1902, Edison had also been notifying distributors and exhibitors that if they did not use Edison machines and films exclusively, they would be subject to litigation for supporting filmmaking that infringed Edison's patents. Exhausted by the lawsuits, Edison's competitors — Essanay, Kalem, Pathé Frères, Selig, and Vitagraph — approached him in 1907 to negotiate a licensing agreement, which Lubin was also invited to join" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_Picture_Patents_Company
Re: Don't pollute the history: Edison was a tweaker
But Edison was also the person that would run off to a patent office to try to block anyone else. If I recall correctly, that is why Hollywood and the movie industry sprung up in California. They were trying to get as far away from Edison as possible to try to avoid all the royalties charged by his patent portfolio.
Which when you look at it now, is a little funny since the MPAA/RIAA is trying to do a similar thing now.
I head that a methamphetamine user's brain run on overdrive, but I don't really see them being that important to innovation... except maybe coming up with new ways to count the number of individual hairs on a head. =P
Uggg, how many people are going to infringe on my "System and Method for Attempting to Extort Money from Software Companies" patent? I really should go after them, but I guess I'll wait another decade before shaking them down.
I also have a completely different patent that may also work, "System and Method for Attempting to Extort Money from Software Companies on the Internet" =P
Mwa ha ha ha.... I've patented the act of human mating for both recreational and procreational reasons. I figure, if I can't have any, no one else can either! =P
I can understand having an external hard drive connected to a laptop, but if this was a hack over the Internet what kind of bandwidth did the connection to this laptop have? It'd take almost 6 days to download 3 Terabytes at 50 Mbps. That's 15 years over a 56k modem. Even if you managed to get a sustained 1 Gbps of bandwidth, you are still looking at about 6 hours.
You would think someone would have noticed the huge spike of network activity for such a long time, but I guess this is the FBI we're talking about...
