The most bigoted people are usually the worst of what they preach against. I wouldn't be surprised if some police raid found every sort of nasty porn in his devices, from gay stuff to downright illegal child porn.
I'll bite. How many humans do you want to avoid killing? That's over 33000. Self-driving has killed a grand total of 1 in millions of miles tested. How does that compare to humans? And this was Uber, how is Waymo doing? And GM?
If anything, you are being the one willing to keep the status quo of thousands dying. Who is killing people, the ones striving for safer cars, roads or the ones trying to block such developments? Did vaccines come to fruition without any death? Do you really think the ones developing medicine want to see people die due to the testing part? Are you that stupid?
Nice podcast but from experience most people will run with their own beliefs and say Ms Bracy is a liar (despite widely available evidence) and the FB must be selling data despite no evidence supporting this and all the facts about the old API fiasco in their face. We are living in an era of intellectual deafness.
Agreed. I've been seeing people foam over the issue for all the wrong reasons. When you tell them they should be foaming but (for instance) FB selling data is not the real problem because they didn't sell any info to CA then people start foaming at you as if you are the monster because of course FB must be selling data because to access the API it must be sold access. I kind of gave up trying to explain.
It's the same reason SESTA passed both houses even with actual victims of sex trafficking saying it would harm future victims. Grandstanding for moralist dumbasses.
That would be a very long shot! Over 8000 km actually. But I don't have to do it. I'm sure ill-intended people all around will eventually pull something destructive enough to force people to address the IoT mess.
So they didn't agree with the first decision and sent it back to get a decision based on more input. Then they are rejecting the second decision based on what they asked for. If the third decision disagrees with their view then what? Keep going until they can get something they agree with just because Google is rich? As much as you hate Google this is very wrong. Just imagine a smaller company scoring win after win and having to burn through their hard earned cash because some group of imbeciles can't be bothered to understand what they are ruling over. This should be very, very disturbing to anyone with more than 2 neurons.
That. It's a ppol of copyright. Wanna offer the stuff? Just pay the price (which will be distributed to the copyright holders) and voilá, access granted. To give some leverage to the owners of the content give them a reasonable window to strike exclusive deals. Problem solved.
But as you said, will not happen anytime soon because copyright morons want everything, hand, arm, body and soul.
Maybe we should start harnessing the power of the compromised IoT and start using them to attack companies that build them, people who use them and other critical infra structure randomly and in a sustained way just to cause as much damage as possible and force this discussion to be had and solutions to be implemented.
Hmm, as far as I could understand the incident was caused by lousy programming, not because of some hacking. While I agree with you that it is something to worry, driverless cars will be subjected to much more scrutiny and regulations than your standard camera or dvr exactly because it's much easier to see the problem. DDoS attacks are abstract, possibly alien concept to most of the population.
Well, it could drive people back to piracy. If they manage to give a damn about your stuff. Netflix knows this and this is why they are making hard efforts to have their own content.
Other than that, yes, when Disney pulls stuff out of Netflix I will pirate because I do like Marvel stuff (I was very sad when Disney bought them). I will not go hunting them waving my money. If they want it they can keep making their stuff accessible in places I want to be.
Good thing you didn't call him "Gollum". Sources say Gollum was deeply offended by such comparison. According to such sources it said: "It hurts ussss, we are not that thin skinned."
Not the US can complain about sovereignty or anything consider they want their laws to apply everywhere. These are just the first soft bites. The main dish has yet to show its jaws.
The thing is, even if you don't sympathize with the guy (and I personally don't), even if he actually did wrong things (I'm still not sure), everything that has been done to strip him the means to defend himself and to deny him due process gets you cheering on him and hoping he prevails in courts. And we are talking about the problems with NZ law enforcement. When you add the US things get much uglier.
There's an interesting phenomenon happening here. I'll warn in advance that it's my own perception based on what I've been listening from people around me but I've seen comments like these elsewhere (even internationally). Anyway, a growing number of people are signing up for 1 or 2 services and deciding that if it isn't there then it doesn't exist.
