I do not believe that an open WIFI connection is bad at all, until your own needs are slowed to a crawl that is. It's propaganda.. it's a message that you're hearing that really originates from folks that can't guard their own castles.
"Your open WIFI is bad! People can "steal" my stuff from it. Bad." What? Seriously? That's my concern why?
It's all been turned into "It makes it difficult for me to track down the real culprits so I will do everything I can to make the buck stop at you." Really?
"Every connection must always be traceable to a individual criminal whenever possible!"
There's nothing effing "negligent" about an effing open wi-fi - it's a choice - where either way you go is a LEGAL option - effing period. Eff law and precedent - until there is a "law" that states open wi-fi is NOT LEGAL then even attempting to apply effing negligence is effing stupid (not unlike lots of "laws" imo)
Crimes are committed yes? Then find the effing criminal and stop trying to slide by and make a buck on what you *perceive* - effing thieves.
My wi-fi is OPEN and flys right behind Old Glory. Cretins.
Do you actually think liberty was a negotiated contract?
Do you actually believe liberty will be upheld via a conference call?
You're going to call what "I" do bad, morally reprehensible, negligent etc. and attempt to affect "my" liberty as a result when in effect nobody was harmed, not even a rabbit?
I think that I'd have to say that everyone should just open their wi-fi up. Bust it all out. Why not? Just get yourself a proper setup that ensures you have a fat pipe for yourself whenever you need it.
Apply the law to the people that break it. Don't try to molest someone that holds different access views then your own. Stop trying to force your business problems down the throats of people because it makes your job just a little bit easier (apparently the job is extortion).
A freshly paved road is fun to drive fast on ... see where I'm going with that?
Most of us could give a rats ass about protecting content located somewhere else, else, that's your bloody job..
Negligence... eat a fudgicle with that.
Not entirely unlike someone attempting to force their own moral views down other folks' throats this. I despises its.
Listen mister, there were only three wishes and you didn't get one... Besides, you've been rubbing that lamp for far too long now anyhow.. So hows about you just put some lotion on your calloused palms, light a candle, find a good beat on Jamendo and go fuck yourself.
"I don't know about you, but I don't really want to live in a country with as little freedoms as china."
The fact that it is even being considered... should be perceived as a threat in and of itself. To act upon it would be treasonous. ... I would add that that should hold true for any governing body. Henceforth and forevermore. la lala
Ohhh, I just feel like being a criminal for a few days..
To lay the blame there, on that alone, is to lack critical thinking skills. Criminal behavior does not a good catalyst make. Good fuel perhaps. Some might say excellent fuel, especially those that would use events to constrict and suppress.
The only thing that can reasonably even attempt to accomplish that which you seem to support is a full perimeter shutdown. If you do not know this or if you do not understand this then you are part of the problem. What is the problem? Well the problem is yours and it closely resembles a complete and thorough inability to evolve. You would rather suppress than think. You deem control as successful governance.
We will not be controlled. We will route you and all that you stand for.. or we will die. Who are we? We are members of the human race that recognize what is right and what is wrong without being told. We are people that believe that every human has a voice, at any cost, at every moment. Those moments may include rioting, peace, war, suppression, agreement, disagreement, rebellion and revolution.
If you fail to come to terms with the fact that more and more voices are being heard every day and you advocate for silence AT ANY MOMENT then you WILL fail and you will fall.
I crossed over on a fluke. OSX was UNIX with an UI that was polished, useful and intuitive. It's been downhill since 10.4.11 where +features == -polish. It's about as tight as.. well, imagine something loose.
Hey man, slashdot is stripping any submission references to anonymous and the latest intrusion and subsequent data dump on tpb. I'm witnessing the metaHide of up to, oh, about eight "recent submissions" now for 30July11 referencing what I thought was just the mantech hack but lo and behold, two other unrelated, albeit anonymous centric, articles were pulled from discovery.
Am I just entering the wtf phase of realization? Too much coffee? It just seems like "things" are escalating rather quickly or I've got my head on crooked this am.
I'd offer that you go and find yourself any open discussion on this recent breach if it happens to pique your interest in the least and/or perhaps try to start one if you're feeling feisty. But I have to pull out for a bit - maybe make more coffee - something is just not quite right.
I don't necessarily have a "sharing platform" account to poink off otherwise I'd not pollute but... have but no have
You seem to be under that sad and most inaccurate impression that a computer's primary (secondary, tertiary) role is to watch media from big media. Not only are you sadly mistaken but you're so far off the mark that you're a disgusting manifestation of ignorance.
Yes, my new car, you like it? It's my movies ride. Check out my I
Re: "A group calling themselves the Web Ninjas..."
The tool sets available to the police are rudimentary and readily available. The data sets they maintain and have access to however grow stronger, broader and deeper.
The tool sets you're speculating about are in the hands of those bound by non-disclosure where mere confirmation of their existence can and does result in removal from society.
The police can not be trusted with such informations, they are, after all, just police and it is these same police that would be the first to start changing sides when any realisation sets in that they are, in fact, directly supporting the bad guys.

The U.S. "government" is scraping and "reviewing" ALL of its citizens communications wherever and whenever they can find them.. ALL OF IT. An act that in and of itself renders their purpose as America's governing body illegitimate as it pertains to the founding documents.
There can be no such thing as a PATRIOT ACT. You can not legislate away pieces of our rights, you can not democratically vote folks in that vote away our rights. Democracy does not equal freedom.
