you are saying that based upon this post you just made which clearly came from someone that is either stupid (which you insist you are not and we will give you the benefit of the doubt here) or on drugs, we can send the police over to confiscate all your property and hold it for a year just because a private citizen says you must be on drugs?
Once again you cloud the discussion by ignoring the point and trying to confuse the issue. SOPA has no provisions for false accusations. That is what this post is about making those who accuse stand behind their accusations and not be free to just shrug their shoulders and say oh well and then point at someone else.
Allegation DOES NOT equal guilt. It doesn't even indicate probable cause. You keep wanting to do away with due process because someone has to pay you for your failure to adapt your business models.
Legit reason = I'm repairing a neighbors computer with vista home premium. Just has a restore partition that is borked with the rest of the hard-drive discs. So I download a clean version of the OS and use the license number on the sticker on the case and problem solved.
According to everything you have written for the past 3 weeks, it is just the fringe element at Techdirt that is against SOPA & PIPA anyways, so the logical conclusion is that GoDaddy should be more emphatic about their support for these monstrosities and then customers will come flocking to them in droves.
But wait that isn't happening. How come the entertainment industry isn't transferring all their domains to GoDaddy in a show of support?
Face it, you talk about pirates as being the ones that want stuff for free it is really you and those who think like you do that want stuff for free.
A car is a physical object that takes up space and is easily noticed.
An IP address is a string of numbers of little consequence to anyone except the poor sap that was assigned that IP address for his myfamilyblog.info site he decided to set up because his brother in law told him he should. Now he sits trying to figure out why no one in his family can access the site, but since to him url and IP are the same thing he has no clue how to proceed. No one is going to bother cleaning up IP addresses, least of all those that were responsible for getting them blocked in the first place.
His only hope is that someone like you that has an overarching desire to set things right in the world will invest the necessary time and effort to resolve his problem.
Sorry AC but if we leave it to the likes of you to set things right we have every reason to be scared.

It won't work.
