The minute some LEO arrests a journalist or someone like that after jerking a knee in response to this law, there will be a lawsuit, after which this stupid law will bite the dust.
I submit the scene in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where Arthur Dent lies in front of the bulldozer about to destroy his home even though the earth is about to be demolished in minutes for your perusal.
The personal experiences I've had of this are many, I just used a few by way of example. I've not seen my fellow Irish people do it, nor anyone from overseas. This is very much a British thing.
As an Irishwoman I'm bemused at the prevalence of "principle above all" thinking that permeates the British mindset. Did you catch that documentary about the people duped into thinking they'd won the El Gordo lottery despite never having bought any tickets who went to court to try to claim their "winnings" off the scammers?
Then there was the chap who hired me as a temp to clean up the mess left behind by an administrator who had her own secret filing system that I was expected to decipher. I advised I would start the filing from scratch and file in alphanumeric order and that it would take a few days but items would thenceforth be easy for anyone to find. "No!" quoth he, "The new girl will make up her own way of doing it." Sigh!
Now we've got mad people declaring that the will o' the people must prevail despite the blue skies, rainbows, and extra money for the NHS that we were promised that turned out to be lies, even if the economy falls off a cliff and people die for want of meds, etc.
Never underestimate the extent to which a determined idiot will go for the sake of principle, facts and reality be damned.
Eh, that'd affect those of us who want to engage with our critters. Better to make a law about restricting campaign finance and media adverts. If the lobbyists can't make it worth a politician's while to dance to their tune we'll have better, cleaner politics.
It might not have come from Grande herself but from a manager or other representative. She's such a sweet kid I can't imagine her deliberately setting out to do something like this.
Trying to sell a "license" to something involves an implicit representation that you have some right to limit its use. In this case, Getty explicitly made such a representation.
You're right about it being fraud but the lawsuit doesn't claim that. It totally should, though.
A loaded passenger jet had just been deliberately crashed into one of the largest buildings in the world in broad daylight. No matter what he did, everybody in the world would be learning about it before he left the building.
True, and that will haunt him for as long as he lives. However, I'd say the biggest difference between himself and Trump is that Bush is gracious and at least tries to behave like "the good guy." This is true especially in his worst policy decisions: he honestly believed he was doing the right thing. It's not a defense, I'm just describing my personal impression of a man I still think of as a genial chump and a bit of a glove puppet. Had he been more willing to question the people around him instead of jumping on political bandwagons, the world would have turned out to be a very different place to the one we have now.
That's because the public aren't even bovvered to keep an eye on what their MEPs are up to. I'll admit that, until malfeasance comes to my attention I don't bother either.
Cases like this, which is being dubbed "ACTA2", are the kind of thing that engages me. Most of the time, I'm distracted by life.
