The only online services I have accounts for are Amazon, Google Play, and 7 Digital. That's only because my music automatically goes into their clouds automatically. Cloud storage is all well and good but keeping offline copies is just good sense.
A perfect illustration of what is wrong with copyright when a band has no control over how THEIR OWN WORK is distributed, when a band has to re-record their hits just to sell them digitally. It's great to see a well known and established artist like Joe Elliot speak out about record label tyranny.
DRM - so pointless. Amazon use DRM on their e books. I took them off my Kindle, stripped the DRM using Calibre, converted them to epub format and have them sitting on my external hard drive.
This is the problem with DRM. It is easily circumvented, it does not stop piracy and the only result is pissing off paying customers. Why can't the entertainment industries see this?
At least he didn't call a police officer a 'pleb'. He would have found himself on the end of an intense media campaign calling for his head on a platter.
For me, it is not about the technology but the content. I am perfectly happy watching TV on my laptop if the content is worth watching. What is the point in having the latest and greatest TV set if there is nothing worth watching?
Sports broadcasting is lagging way behind other areas of TV. The technology is available for live streaming (as evidenced by the popularity of illegal streams) and yet no one takes advantage of it. Why?

Just like the war on 'piracy'.
Pity the war on government stupidity is another unwinnable one.
