Re: Re: Re: Re: Not clever enough sneering to sell me.
So let's see, the there's an ongoing land war in asia (could you also stretch Mesopotamia?)... so the US (and its poodles) seem to like 'classic blunders'...
That's fine, when are you going to pay for your K12 education, and will you pay a use toll every time you use the roads? Oh, and the internet was created with tax dollars (military and educational establishments) so please feel free to make your contributions for using this as well.
Just pray as well that your house doesn't catch fire or that no-one breaks in.
out_of_the_blue - thank you for a decent, sensible and well-reasoned post. Please do many more like this - no unnecessary ad-homs, no automatic railing against whatever the article is against.
I will point out that this blog is tech-based, so has no reason to chase every single instance of capitalistic abuse, whioh would be a bit like complaining about a particular broken straw in a haystack...
Government takes, and corporations take, plus they pay the government to let them take more, plus to take some extra for the corporations. It's called 'laissez-faire' capitalism, until it wanders into fascism.
In communism, all the big 'corporations' *are* the government, or are directly owned by it.
Have an Aereo-style workaround - remote server streaming the music. And plan for when GEMA move the goalposts.
Still, an aggressive 'explanation' campaign to club-goers would help as well, especially if it can be highlighted that GEMA a) probably aren't paying much, if anything to the artists, and b) most likely aren't even covering the tracks covered.
By the way, this is actually equivalent to charging nightclubs tax for all the alcohol on the premises, rather than effectively on any alcohol drunk...
The point there is that then that third party is doing so illegally and is likely therefore to be guilty of perjury. Either way, it shows how ridiculously broken and encouraging of idiot scams the whole process is. So unless it's some company trolling the **AAs...

Re: Idealist Mike seems to be discovering how world works.
Reported for three reasons:
First, useless spam sig.
Second, sheer couldn't-care-less-ness about the rest of the world. Sorry, it's your bloody idiotic **AAs causing trouble for the rest of us, along with your bloody recession. If this site is too international for you, go back to Free Republic.
Third, you were doing so well, then had to have a whine at Mike (and Google), instead of just asking nicely, or even providing some links. Besides, I'm pretty sure he's had plenty of articles about you guys being illegally wiretapped (which the rest of us in the world could care less about ;) - and if I were you, I'd be a lot more worried about government spying on its own citizens rather than some corporations - unless you have the government bought off?
I read it as the NZ police, that being the context here. No reason to suppose it is somewhere else. If it had been replying to the Mesonoxian Eve post, it might have referred to a normally decent Scandinavian country, but since the article is about NZ...
And a free market between the customers and the dinosaur gatekeepers will be an absolute disaster for the dinosaurs. Which is why they are desperately building anti-asteroid pea-shooters!
Although there is a fine line between minimising and avoiding - look at Starbucks in the UK!
Minimising your taxes is prudent. Seriously contorting to avoid paying any (or only a tiny percentage) is taking the mick. Especially if you wish to make use of those perks granted by being in a civilised country like roads, police, fire services and a general rule of law.
With regards to Aereo, if the end receiver doesn't need to pay to receive the channels, why should Aereo have to pay to 'format-shift' transmission?
Re: This is war against scientific work and culture
I suspect that it's one of those cases where all Google has to do is to block out all German addresses, and link them to a page that explains how this is the German government/court/GEMA's fault, and provide links to complain to these people...
Re: Google creates none of the value in content linked.
By this retarded argument, Yell should pay people to put their listings in their Yellow Pages, and billboard owners should pay companies to put up adverts for their shops/products. I'm pretty sure it's the other way around in reality-land...
