"Democrats stopped being the party of unabashed racism"
Unabashed. Yes.
They moved from an obvious to a subtle strategy.
I'd rather have an enemy in front of me, sure of their intent, than an "ally" who constantly "helped" me by making me dependent on them while patting me on the head and basically saying "nice puppy!".
JFK (Democrat) and fifty eight years of a liberal SCOTUS keeping all minorities, blacks especially, as a sub-class of US citizen, putting the stigma of "you're not good enough to compete with whites" on every minority that falls under AA's "penumbra".
I doubt that was the intention, even of that idiot frat-boy Kennedy, and if it had the limited life of ten or so years originally intended, it may have worked out to the good.
But after more than half a century, the (hopefully) unintended consequence is that it's promoted feelings of superiority and inferiority between "races".
Re: Re: Sounds like throwing good money after the bad
They can afford twelve million. Since we threw them out of NY, I've downgraded my internet/TV package. And my bill has still climbed to almost forty dollars MORE than it was the month they were "thrown out of NY".
I hate to suggest it, but at this point the only resolution that will stop them is price controls.

But nobody TOLD them how it works.
That's the reason for killing the OTA and a host of other "bodies" whose duty was to inform government officials of "real stuff".
It allows them to plausibly deny responsibility.
It's difficult to say "I didn't know" (and be believed) when there are entire committees whose ONLY job is to tell you that information.

Re:
"So did slavery, segregation, literacy tests for voting"
None of which are officially acknowledged to still be in existence today.
Affirmative Action IS still in effect, and the longer it remains so, the longer the stigma will attach.
BTW, slavery, segregation, and literacy tests for voting were all, as is AA, proposed by, voted into law, and enforced by... Democrats.
Something to keep in mind with all the tarring of republicans/conservatives as "nazis".

Think about this....
...that program costs tens of millions every year on collection, storage, searching.
Is the NSA going to give that money back?
Hell no. They're going to spend it on other "projects" that have a much higher ROI than bulk data collection.
And I doubt we'll see another Snowden to tell us about the new program.

If Moonbeam had to be elected by ONLY those who'd suffered under him 30 years earlier, he'd never have been elected again.

It's entirely the fault of YOUNG California voters.

And add a First Responder Tax to every phone bill every month, just like we pay for E911 service.

Re: Re: Illegal activity is NOT protected speech
It's called Jaywalking when one person does it outside of marked pedestrian crossings or at corners.
When a group does it and blocks a road (without a Parade or similar Permit) so traffic can't pass through, it's criminal.
Courts do NOT assign criminality. They simply judge if the accused violated the laws they are charged with.
And, again, what the Appeals court decided was NOT this case, but the Prejudicial Dismissal. And they were correct to do so.
