I've seen some comments around the web on this topic and it seems there is a belief that the leftists are using the "free speech" public sentiment as a push to remove other ideologies from the web.
true, but won't be. Just like when Disney made sure Mickey Mouse didn't go public domain.
As far as I can tell our current culture is ran by a group of One Percenters that see the U.S. economy as a resource grab, and they are trying to out grab each other before the current culture collapses or they die.

If you're blessed to be born into the ruling class of the U.S. you've got it pretty good. The rest of American (and world pretty much) needs to enjoy the freedoms they've been allowed to keep.
GCQH hacks media. NSA hacks intelligence agencies. So why in the world does Der Spiegel even still have access to the Snowden docs?
It's obvious that the media agencies like Der Spiegel, Techdirt, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, aren't *THAT* big of a deal (in terms of funding) to these agencies otherwise they'd have a NK DDoS or Charlie Hebdo "accident".
Oh, hahaha, you have no clue how arrogant these people are. The talk behind closed doors is that of a wolf looking at a flock of sheep and gleefully deciding whom to kill. But unlike a wolf who is following their natural instinct these individuals get a rush and high watching the flock flee and squirm as they go for a kill.
Watch the glee on that dude's game video of him pwning people with head-shots. His enjoyment is on par with what I'm talking about.
It's always wise to diversify your business holdings. For cloud business this may look like investment in storage locations inside the firewall of viable economies. So then the major impact by unfriendly business policy is most significantly felt by the local employees and not the corporate office at large.
Job one of every government agency is to get more funding. I bet when it's budget time the Boehner is going to make a case they need more money to stop these terrorist plots. I pray that the Appropriations Committee is willing and able to call him on this obvious ploy.
But maybe they won't. What with the FBI collecting dirt on congress and gaming the system.
Friends in NZ tell me that the government there encourages individuals to get chipped. I've not verified that officially, but it would seem to me that being barcoded is a bit outdated.
If people (scientist included) want to be straight and honest with their beliefs about life and existence we should just admit that bacteria can never be eradicated. For, unlike the dodo and other extinct species, bacterium to be eradicated we'd have to come up with a way for bacteria hosts to not be bacteria hosts. Everyone who is reasonable and sensible let's just admit this and move on.
I up-voted Mason Wheeler's comment, because human existence is 10% you and 90% other. We live in a symbiotic relationship with germs and other items that have their own DNA/RNA.
I'd like to take off on a tangent at this point to address the West's view of death and dying, but no. I'll just offer my opinion that we've built a life that is like a castle of sand and are blaming everything but ourselves when it crumbles into dust.
The idea that the reporter and not the perpetrator should be punished is one of the most frustrating and annoying aspects of my culture. (It isn't just those in our government that do this by the way.)
Truth revealers are reviled, mocked, and punished by those in power and the lynch mob of a public that spews venom on those who want to do what's right, honest, and true.
But I don't find this scenario atypical. Too many incidents I recall of corporations on the one-hand fighting each other in court and on the other-hand joining forces for some project.

I agree with your statement, Mr. Moody, but inasmuch as Western citizens are free to enjoy the personal benefits of strong encryption.
