Google actually kinda has a reputation for arbitrarily denying adsense (or even indexing) to sites and not responding to the site owners. I'm sort of surprised this guy was able to work it out.
They'd be better off and doing the inverse, like Valve did recently in Team Fortress 2: Reward the players who didn't "cheat" with some perk or in-game item. Then they won't piss off paying customers (not too badly, at least).
I don't know. While they may have felt a general pressure to do this, they've completely destroyed themselves now. Who in their right mind after finding out about this would schedule a birthday party there? Not to mention, how many simply mad people are going to stop going to this theater?
Unfortunately, I'll have to agree with the Anon Coward above that such insecurity would seem to be due mostly to the unavailability of patches. No, that doesn't make it much better that the OS is so naturally insecure, but that's pretty much inevitable.
As an active participant in the sci-fi world, I feel like I need to say something here, but there's nothing really to say other than: This is stupid. So, patents are supposed to protect creators against fictional characters' usage of a device? And how does this divert any revenue that the patent holder would have received? Are we playing with Monopoly money here or something?
PS - Knowing was actually better than a lot of people gave it credit for.
Translation: "You advertise our sport on our terms or not at all."
I can see the MLB and NFL being able to throw a little weight around, but it's funny that this cricket league thought they could do the same.
I see what you're saying, and I don't really feel like signing up for Rippol to check it out, but if they're displaying 1000 videos per page, that doesn't sound like any sort of good user experience to me.
I don't see why this matters at all. When you embed Hulu videos, the commercials still play just as they would directly from Hulu's website. If someone thinks they can take those videos -- which Hulu will still making money from, regardless of the website they appear on -- and present them on a more user-friendly interface, that will do nothing but give Hulu more viewers and, thus, more money. If this website's interface is less user-friendly, then people will simple turn to Hulu.com, or some other website, instead.
So, I don't see at all what the problem with embedding these videos (to any degree) is.
What astonishes -- and scares -- me more than anything is how Parliament has just rolled over to let this guy do basically whatever he wants. I like to think that this could never happen in the U.S., but I'm increasingly becoming wary of assuming such things.
