If they techinal person who signed off on a patent decides that it really wasn't novel or was signed under duress (not signing is certainly a CLM), can he/she petition to have his/her name removed?
Seems like we'd get rid of an awful lot of patents if this was allowed.
Yeah, current administration...
It's called a "contract". They were contractually obligated to pay the BS bonuses. You pay them or a bunch of lawyers when they sue. What choice would you make?
Really, Steve. There's plenty of problems with the current administration, but this isn't one of them. Rake you muck elsewhere.
Great to see you doing your part to make the world a more horrible place. As a compassonate human being, your children would most likely be compassonate as well. Genetics or environment, the apple still doesn't fall far from the tree. When kind, intelligent, compassionate people decide not to reproduce, who is left to reproduce?
Your argument fails, because Software patents didn't exist until some BS lawyers and judges colluded to make them exist.
They also are not generally enforced, which is why we can get any innovation at all today.
The entire concept of a "Software Patent" is flawed. Mathematics and algorithms are specifically excluded from patent law, and the idea that adding software to a computer creates a new machine makes about as much sense as putting a new record in your record player creates a new machine.
This entire situation is absurd.
Ah, yes. Little kids are never force-fed their parents religion. No one has ever taken a kid into a room, turned out the lights, showed them a scary slide show, and told them it was Hell. And no one ever gave that kid a bible and told them that it was the only way out of Hell.
Correction: Any PERSON with an ounce of historical knowledge knows just how dangerous it is to have the government start defining their faith for them.
Atheists are not quashing religious speech. They are quashing PUBLICLY FUNDED religious speech. Most Atheists would also quash a publicly-funded anti-religion speech. I certainly would.

Re: Wow, framing unsuspecting people as a political act
No one is "framing" anyone. The sites linking to the song did so on purpose.

I am 42. The bulk of the people in my generation have no idea that you no longer need to register a copyright. They had no idea that the Copyright Law of 1976 or the Sonny Bono Act were passed. They have no idea that the copyright term is now life of the author +75 years, or publish date + 95. The laws were passed quietly and stealthily.
People older than I are completely clueless on the matter, for the most part.
So, as you raise public awareness, you will certainly find more support. Repeal these mickey-mouse laws!
A company that I worked for had a standing threat: if a head-hunting company hired someone away from it, they would not do business with that company. This company hired 20-30% of the tech employees in the area, so everyone was careful not to hire from them.
Plop in a CEO that hates IT, and suddenly the workers are being fired at an astounding rate. Everybody wants out of the company, but no one can get a job until they get fired or quit straight-out. It took 2 years for the head-hunting companies to figure out that this company wasn't going to hire anyone for a long time. I suspect the lobbying firms are equally as dense.
