I found it missing from the research as well (at least from what I could grasp from the article). However some streaming pirate apps also use bittorrent protocol (popcorn time comes to mind if memory serves) so there's that as well. There are studies into the streaming part of piracy too and they mostly conclude that streaming spikes when there's no availability. Go figure.
"Patents really don't have much to do with it in reality. People are dying of overdoses not because of a patent, but because they are addicted to it and are unable or unwilling to get help for it."
Addicted out of thin air I suppose? No abuse in prescriptions, no pressure on doctors.
My mother happens to be a doctor. She has been pressured and threatened, in a veiled way of course, because she refused to prescribe medicine. More than once. Good thing she built a solid reputation and could repeal such threats. On medicine that should be public domain.
Wireless has its limitations. Latency issues, instability depending on external conditions. Satellite is awesome until you need low latency. You currently can beat cable with.. Other types of cable.
I have yet to see anything backing up your assertions. Any of them.
The FCC adopted a "hands-off" approach for a long while (when they classified ISPs as service providers instead of using Title II) which lead to this mess.
The ISPs themselves (as per force of regulations) publish financial reports and all reports basically say the opposite.
As for Google, you are either mentally impaired or you are a complete idiot. Google with all their might got stuck into the incumbent ISPs regulatory capture, lawsuits and general assholishness and you have PLENTY of examples of people that got fed up and went municipal broadband and got a much, much better service.
And Pai said things that are historically wrong. Either he is a liar or he is ignorant. Pic the best. Either way he should be out of his job.
"It's not about you, me, or Pai as a person, it's about the ideas and the concepts. When you get down to personally labeling him a liar, you have stopped debating concepts and started to debate people. NN isn't about any of that."
I just clicked the link and I had to laugh loud while feeling guilty. Jesus, six years. This is clearly a case of OCD or something like (hence the guilt, the guy/girl is sick).

Re: OH, NOW you want 3rd-party liability! Hold FCC liable for bots, eh?
Wow, so much nonsense in a single comment!
The FCC has clear knowledge of the fraud going on in its site (ie: Mike contacted them personally to point out the fraud and multiple experts have denounced the bot comments plus the dead) and yet it has done nothing to prevent, mitigate or remove the fraudulent comments. I don't know in what country/planet you live but any corporation doing this would be very screwed (see Backpage).
It's holding the FCC liable for knowing exactly what's going on and doing absolutely nothing.
Of course I don't expect you to grow a brain and understand but it's a good example of where liability kicks in. Or should kick in.
I have issues calling a bipartisan system that can't bother to think of the country beyond its partisan bickering a 'democracy'. It would be somewhat better if there were more parties involved making it impossible to work alone. This would make bills and other issues go through true discussions and the end result would probably be something that wouldn't be stellar to one party but rather something good enough for everybody. I'm quite sure that Americans would love to have balanced decisions that took into account some of the Democrats ideas, some of the Republicans and something from a 3rd party. Maybe excluding Republicans but that's a discussion for another time. Next elections are coming ;)
