Yes, how dare someone criminally steal my ladder from in front of my house and 'criminally' paint someone's house. Now, if that person didn't want their house painted, am I negligent?
Ah, but this is with their permission. Makes all the difference. If I'm barely using my upload quota, then why should I mind sharing it to help seed some legal, useful file?
But that's because the labels failed to turn Napster to their advantage. Instead they hounded it, its users, and its successors - which only drives innovation (and all without patents? ;) So don't conflate increased usability with piracy with a total failure of imagination and total greed.
How did they 'give ownership' to the photographer? By copyright law, the photographer already has 'ownership' of the photo by having taken ('fixed') it. For the couple, it really comes down to a moral issue.
Re: Re: Once again proof that copyright is for the average Joe
So you didn't actually read the article itself, where Mike several times raises his concern at his own emotional/moral response, and the potential emotional/moral responses of others? You didn't read how he agreed with his usual position that objectively this is at least possibly transformative/fair use?
If Mike had tried any more to avoid leaving out troll-bait, he'd have fallen over. In fact, if Mike came out and spoke FOR copyright and against Fair Use, especially for a 'big company' you trolls would still find something to bash him over. Grow up.
At least here we have a clear case of Big Shills Big Suck-up-to Big Hate. I'll take Mike's side with the small, decent people here.
I dunno, ask Kim Dotcom. So when did "Felony Being a Foreign Asshole" pass in the US? Because it must only apply to foreigners or you could use it on so many deserving individuals...
Yes, because invading many 'innocent' countries and behaving like hypocritial bullies, and having an entire terrorist network dedicated to your destruction is nowhere near as dangerous as having Wikileaks publishing diplomatic gossip.
So if you as a citizen of America set up a Spanish server using a UK company which sells Nazi paraphenalia, which is illegal in Germany, you should be illegally hounded, spied upon, arrested and threatened with extradition to Germany?
You'll probably find that Portugal has a big market in Brazil, just like other Latin American countries cross-seed cultural products. Or even English-language countries.
In fact, most film/TV actors who want to be seen as 'serious' actually try and do theatre, because that has a certain 'cachet'. A lot of the well-admired Btitish thespians started in theatre before moving to film/TV (i.e. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan).
If you count panto (ugh!) then a lot of other people use it as a vehicle to stay 'relevant' when they aren't able to be splashed all over the gossip pages...
