you try releasing something into the public domain... It can't be done, you automatically have copyright on whatever you publish.
Sure you can ignore "infringement", but still it's a dark place of the law if you do that.
What is to say that in 5 years from now you won't reverse on your decision to leave everything open and start suing people for infringement.
With CC, you have clear legal outlines which states what can and cannot be done with your work.
She's not an emerging artist. She already had her tv-show on the BBC, and have been in the charts for a few years.
In fact she is going to stop with making music.
Asking Google to delete an email is EXACTLY like asking Amazon to remove a book from a Kindle.
Remember the backlash from Amazon's move? And you want Google to repeat it?!
The bank made a mistake, and they should acknowledge that and after that shut the F4 up.
Upping and leaving a meaningful discussion is not my idea of a grown up superstar.
Yes there were morons commenting as well, but also a lot of thoughtful posts.
I once got pulled over because I was driving too slowly, according to the police officers.
The maximum speed on that part of the motorway was 120km/h, the minimum is I believe 60km/h (unless otherwise indicated). I was doing 100km/h (according to my GPS device), by comparison trucks are only allowed to drive 80km/h on our motorways.
It was freezing that night, there were ice patches on the road.
And according to all public safety notices on the subject of slippery roads the advice is to lower your speed. Yet these fine police officers thought it necessary to pull me over.
Thankfully, they only gave a warning, otherwise I would have contested.
Copyright law as it stands now is a complete joke, a wellfare system for the heirs of artists, no wait I mean rightsholders, and not what it used to represent: an incentive for artists to create new works.
It's so simple, if you think about it. Instead of complaining about the fake knock-offs, make the cheap gear yourself, so you can have the money from the high-end market AND the low-end market. Instead of lawsuits that only costs money, drives public to the fake (cheaper) brands, and leaves dirt over your good name.
What news source checks its facts?
Usually, it's actually the blogosphere that checks/corrects the facts of what the main stream media had reported on.
I'd say, mr President, I'd check MY facts if I were you, before I'd say stuff like that.
A box of pencils usually worth a few euros because they were used by some "famous" artist in some artwork, suddenly increase in value a hundred-thousand fold?
And then they say that I'm crazy!
I'm starting to see how our economy has tanked, people are losing the ability to judge value of objects.
For the Love of God! Get a grip Hirst and rest of the artworld.
What's next, some artist takes a dump on a piece of paper and sells it for a million bucks?

It's sad that it's needed, though.
