The thing is, not all flesh color is pasty white; there is also flesh color that is darker in complexion, and unfortunately, many places in Silicon Valley fail to take that into account. The reason why it's relevant to this article is that darker skin tones don't always get tested and lighter skin tones get over-tested, so you have that disparity and whereas over-testing results in many false positives, false negatives can permeate when it comes to people with darker skin tones because the lack of diversity in skin color in Silicon Valley's firms mean that people with more melanin don't get true positives, let alone false ones.
If only we had the 28-to-56 year term before all those copyright extensions (and the opt-out nature of copyright turning into opt-in) that happened in 1978. At least I can make covers and remixes of music made 95 years ago (which I was working on earlier today, to be frank).
Re: 'If you won't do it we will' is never a pretty picture
when people realize that the 'official channels' will not protect people's rights and lives and are instead only interested in protecting those violating and ending them, that's when you get people pissed off enough to start torching cars and buildings, taking matters into their own hands because that's seen as the only chance they have to see any sort of real punishment levied out.
Or as Martin Luther King Jr. so eloquently put it: "A Riot is the Language of the Unheard".
President John Fitzgerald Kennedy echoed similar sentiments: "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."
Apple's iTunes had DRM circa 2003, and ended in 2009, but during that time, the DRM was ridiculously easy to circumvent: All you had to do was burn a bunch of tracks you bought from the iTunes store onto a CD-R, then rip them into iTunes, and voilà! The music you bought from iTunes lost its DRM! Of course there's a loss in audio quality, but fortunately, competition from Amazon led them to abandon DRM altogether, and then Bandcamp allowed lossless file formats (and digital files that iTunes wouldn't offer, such as PDFs or JPEGS, for instance) to flourish. So the music industry is actually better off in this respect for consumers than the film, television, or literary industries.
And then there are the Richard Liebowitzes of the world, who put their foot in so much shit that they might as well be walking in an Elephant's laystall…
Re: Re: I've already learned to live without EA Games
This is the reason I never trusted games that required me to install another game service over Steam. Not only is it bloatware that ultimately slows performance but I've read enough stories on TD to know they also fuck with your computer in ways unseen.
The only ones I do that aren't Steam are GOG Galaxy and itch.io's client. The best thing about them both is that both of them aren't required at all, as the games on both platforms are DRM-free!
From what I've been reading, they seem to be spending their effort on trying to somehow blame Joe Biden for the poor handing of the pandemic. I'm sure Obama ties into that somewhere, though.

It reminds me of what I asked my father when I was young:
Me: "Daddy, are computers perfect?"
My father: "Computers aren't perfect, but they expect us to be perfect."
If anything, computers are only as good as what we make out of them.
