Interesting theory... but do poster printers charge marketing agencies by the amount of colors they use? Coca-cola must be spending a lot on billboard ads... :P
Technically, the chef says the burger is "free" and you're actually paying for the wine that goes with it.... so maybe that's why this $5000 burger doesn't qualify for a Guinness World Record. (and the ripoff is in the wine, not the faux Kobe beef, then)
Everyone knows Tom (of MySpace), right? So just make sure everyone befriends a few common people in a new social network... :P
Diaspora seemed like a cool idea, but it suffers from exactly the "nobody I know is on it" problem. It's probably much easier to build a service that people use independently of a social network (eg. a photo-sharing service or MMORPG) and then turn it into a social network when it hits a tipping point of active users.
I think the idea is that the tungsten dust wouldn't have enough momentum to slow down large, intact satellites. But the dust would have a significant effect on smaller pieces of debris.
Getting the dust in the right orbit is obviously important -- and presumably no one would add the dust in the path of a super-sensitive satellite... (or maybe they would if it was an effective anti-satellite weapon).
Globally, ruminant livestock produce about 80 million metric tons of methane annually, accounting for about 28% of global methane emissions from human-related activities. An adult cow may be a very small source by itself, emitting only 80-110 kgs of methane, but with about 100 million cattle in the U.S. and 1.2 billion large ruminants in the world, ruminants are one of the largest methane sources. In the U.S., cattle emit about 5.5 million metric tons of methane per year into the atmosphere, accounting for 20% of U.S. methane emissions.
JoeCool.. there ARE bikes with drive shafts, but I think they're generally not retrofit equipment and require a special bike frame to go with the drive shaft.
I always wondered how Coinstar cornered the market on exchanging coins with machines that only accepted coins... ATMs are designed to be put a variety of locations, though, and Coinstar machines are usually only in big supermarkets.
Maybe when diamond manufacturing is cheaper, we'll all carry around diamond-based currency...

The new toolbar actually takes up less space on an iPhone, but it makes the toolbar text a bit small for reading.... Not sure how it looks on an ultrabook screen.
Yah, and bears have been known to destroy cars in order to get to the snacks people left on their front seats. Bears have a pretty good sense of smell, and food left in a hot car is like making microwave popcorn in your office cube....
The bear-proof garbage cans in the park seem to work okay now -- I don't know how many iterations it took, tho. :P
The hoverbike looks cool, but somehow also more dangerous than the volocopter VC1. The hoverbike doesn't look like it's meant to really fly too far off the ground, but it still lacks a bit of rotor redundancy.
